West of Oz

August 2022

West of Oz is an original fire dance performance that reimagines The Wizard of Oz in a western, cowboy aesthetic. The performance comprised of multiple acts that featured various fire props, including fire fans, fire hoops, palm torches, and fire wings. I choreographed the palm torches' “Scarecrow Saloon” act with Lian Nitani (clip) and also choreographed the multi-prop “Boot Scootin’ Finale” with Morgan Jenkins (clip).

In addition to co-choreographing two pieces, I performed in several other acts, including “The Wicked Witch” (a fire hoops and fire wings piece) and “Welcome to Oz” (a fire fans piece).

West of Oz was performed live at various events, most notably during the 2022 Man Burn at Burning Man, Black Rock City, Nevada.
